May 18, 2006Wired CommunityWait long enough, and someone will write your blog post for you . . . I've been meaning to post about the Emerging Writers Network and MetaxuCafé, and now EWN founder Dan Wickett has done the job himself, in a post about The Importance of Community. MetaxuCafé, in particular, is a great way to discover new author blogs, to read more about the writing life. This past year has also seen Bud Parr setting up, developing, and running the MetaxuCafé (www.metaxucafe.com), a much larger organization of litblogs. This community allows a reader quick access to highlights from a great number (in the hundreds) of litblogs all at once. I know every single time that I’ve visited the site, I’ve found another new blog or two to spend some time at. Such communities need an individual or two that are pretty devoted to setting them up, and making sure things keep rolling in the right direction. My main experiences of writerly community on the Web have come from reading and commenting on other authors' blogs, and having them do the same here and at gresik.ca. Even just a simple connection, a "me too" response, can be a real boost. We're not alone! Posted by Alison at May 18, 2006 04:59 PM | This entry posted in: Writing CommunityComments
